Two strangers arrive on the coast near Santa Helena – Master Kiyomasa, a Samurai master, and his young female apprentice, Kami. During their journey in the desert, bandits attack the pair, and Master Kiyomasa is murdered. The young initiate vows to avenge the murder.

In Santa Helena, Montoya stops a fight between his troops and Kami. Montoya seemingly befriends the young woman. In reality he is taking advantage of the opportunity to get her to kill the Queen for him by leading her to believe that the Queen controls the bandits that killed her master.

Tessa Alvarado befriends the young woman, but is unable to convince her that Montoya is not to be trusted.

Will Kami find out the truth before she challenges the Queen to fight to the death? Will the Queen be forced to kill the young woman blinded by revenge?
